CBRL's Govan Gateway Development in Glasgow

How did you first hear about the Scheme?

Cruden Building and Renewals Limited (CBRL) have been aware of the Considerate Constructors Scheme for a number of years now and became interested in getting involved in order to improve the standard of the conditions we were providing to our workforce.

When did you register your first site?

CBRL registered our first site at Blackford Road in Paisley in later 2008, achieving an audit score of 32.0 on 28th January 2009 for our first audit.

Why did you decide to apply to become an Associate Member?

CBRL recognises that becoming an Associate Member of the Considerate Constructors Scheme is a positive step forward in improving the site and welfare conditions we offer to our workforce and also to the external image we portray to our neighbours.

What benefits do you hope to receive by being an Associate Member of the Scheme?

By becoming an Associate Member of the Considerate Constructors Scheme, CBRL hope to achieve continual improvement in the CCS audit scores we are currently experiencing whilst also sharing with, and benefitting from, all aspects of good practice from other Associate Members in order to achieve the highest possible standard.

How will you ensure all of your sites are registered?

It is already existing CBRL policy that all sites must be registered with the Considerate Constructors Scheme.

How will you ensure that all sites are adhering to the Scheme's Site Code of Considerate Practice and how will they be supported so that they meet the required standard?

The requirements of the Considerate Constructors Scheme are integrated into the CBRL Integrated Management System which is audited on a regular basis and reviewed monthly at Senior Management meetings.

Part of being an Associate Member is to encourage the Scheme's 'Company Registration' initiative – how do you intend to do this?

CBRL will actively encourage Company Registration through our procurement and buying processes for all Sub-Contractors and Suppliers.

What challenges do you anticipate you will face with meeting the expectations of the Scheme?

CBRL recognise that each project and their client's requirements will have their own particular specifications. It is our duty to ensure that these specifications and requirements are fully incorporated into the requirements of the Considerate Constructors Scheme without being to the detriment of either the project or to the Scheme.

Any other comments about the Scheme or Associate Membership?

Having looked into Associate Membership of the Considerate Constructors Scheme for the last 12 months or so, CBRL are delighted to have been granted this and are excited by the prospect of being more involved in the coming years and having the privilege of contributing to the Scheme's objectives.
